Gareth briefly came back from the Cayman Islands last week so we (Andrew and Gareth) recorded a couple of tracks which will see daylight after Gareth finds time to mix/master them back in the Caymans. The first track is called ‘Easy to be cold’ which may or may not end up being a ‘simon and the witch‘ track. I (Andrew) played it a few times in public last year, its sound is influenced by a track called ‘could have been a sign’ by (the sound of) Bailey. The other track is heavily influenced by Leonard Cohen and Murder Ballads era Nick Cave – quite a dark little tale of murder on the high seas (can you spot a theme running through our lyrics yet?). It may well be called ‘blood on your hands’ but we are yet to settle on a name for it. We started off using the Kaossilator on the track (and a few squeeks have made it through) but we soon reverted to our usual sound!
We’ll post something here when you can listen to the new tracks. We’ve also uploaded some different tracks from the album to our myspace.
Gareth is in the Caymans at the moment but we are getting itchy feet to do something Gwildor related. As the flights over there seem to cost around a grand (and I can’t see there being that many venues over there that would appreciate our quiet/noise!) I don’t think we’ll be flying out! So.. in an effort to keep us entertained Andy(Keys) and myself shall be spending some time next week messing around with ableton, a kaossilator (because we can’t afford a KP3) and some Gwildor tracks (old and new).
I’m a bit worried what the results will be as I’d like them to turn out like a poor-man’s/bad version of something James Yuill would make before breakfast. The reality is likely to be the tracks will sound like something akin to Doop Doop. It’s Mr Yuill’s fault for making it look so easy I suppose. The problem is that Andy has a strange alter ego you see. He may seem to fit in well but in reality he has a secret love affair for cheesy charty dance tunes. I’m sure we’ll be posting the results at some point soon.
-Andrew and Gareth recorded two new tracks last week which Gareth has taken back to the Caymans to mix/master and subject you to soon. Fun! 6 months ago
